🇪🇸Todo lo que digamos de esta obra maestra se va a quedar corto. Tan corto como lo que dura una partida a este invento de los @llama_dice. No recuerdo otro título en el que hayamos trabajado que haya tenido una proyección tan meteórica en #BGG en menos tiempo. Desde el @spiel_messe 2023 hasta septiembre del 2024 en el top 136. ¡Una pasada y un orgullo haber trabajado en este trabajo! No vamos a contaros de que va el juego, pero sí de que la involucración por parte del equipo fue total y absoluta (David, Joan, Devir y sobre todo Isra y Shei). Este juego está destinado a ser uno de los mayores éxitos de estos autores españoles (al menos de momento) y a convertirse en un clásico histórico. Pero, dadas las fechas que son, aquí lo realmente importante es ¿A qué estás esperando con ansia viva su expansión Matcha? Por supuesto nosotros también, y os podemos prometer que va a mejorar aún más el juego, además de daros una rondita más, disfrutones.

🇬🇧 Whatever we can say about this game will be too little, just as the time the plays take for this design by the amazing @llama_dice. We cannot reckon any other game that we worked on that managed to reach such a fame on #BGG at such short notice. From 2023’s @spiel_messe until Septembre 2024 it reached top 136! That is truly impressive, and we cannot but be proud of having worked on such a hit! We won’t tell you what this game is about, but we will tell you more about the amazing team behind it: David, Joan, Devir and above all, Isra & Shein. This game is aimed to be one of the greatest hits of these two Spanish designers and may become a classic for the industry. However, given the dates we are facing at the moment, are you excited about the Matcha expansion or what? We definitely are, and we promise it will improve the overall gaming experience, besides giving you the extra round you all asked for.

🇪🇸Por estas fechas nosotros tenemos las calderas a mil por hora con todo el tema del @spiel_messe 2024. Trabajamos todo el año para que todo luzca genial en esta feria en concreto, donde el mundo de los juegos de mesa mira y apunta. Antes de enseñaros los juegos que queremos ver en el Spiel y que nos resultan más interesantes o curiosos (aparte de ver los diseños en los que hemos invertido meses de trabajo duro) queremos saber de vosotros/as. De todos los lanzamientos que se hicieron en 2023, a raíz de Essen ¿cuáles han sido vuestros títulos favoritos del año? Seguro que una mayoría dirá The White Castle -con toda la razón-. A nosotros nos gustaron mucho Satori, la belleza de Bonsai y el pepinazo de Barcelona. No hemos probados aún algunos del año pasado, pero contadnos ¿Qué juego del año pasado os ha gustado más?

We worked an entire year so things would look the right way at this convention, as everyone is attentive and taking notes of the latest releases. Before we share with you the games we’re mostly excited about this year - besides the ones we have proudly and hardly worked on during months -we want to know more about your choices. From all the games launched at the 2023 convention, which were the ones you liked the most? We’re sure many of you will say The White Castle and you’re totally right! We also loved Satori, Bonsai and the astonishing Barcelona. What game released at the convention last year you enjoyed the most throughout 2024?

🇪🇸Nuestras jugonas amigas @menudo_par_de_meeples nos dijeron una vez que Cooper Island era un señor juegazo a 2, así que en una tentadora oferta de Wallapop nos hicimos con el juego. De aspecto es durete y en la práctica es un juego en el que como dejes pasar algo por alto te penaliza. Creemos que dada nuestra experiencia jugona y profesional, podemos captar nuestra empatía hacia un juego en las primeras partidas, y aunque no nos disgustó de primeras, a Diana no le voló la cabeza ni se enamoró al instante. Muchas cosas que hacer y casi todas entrelazadas. Quizás nos hagamos mayores y debido al poco tiempo que tenemos, acabamos disfrutando más de juegos menos lesivos. Otro motivo es que hace ya meses que nuestro límite de juegos petó y ahora mismo tienen que títulos para quedarse los que realmente disfrutamos. ¿Cómo lo veis vosotros? ¿Se merece otra oportunidad este Cooper Island?

🇬🇧Our dear friends at @menudo_par_de_meeples told us about Cooper Island and how much we’d enjoy it as a 2-p, so when we found it second hand at an affordable price, we decided to give it a go. It is more on the heavy side, and when you play you need to cover pretty much all aspects, otherwise you’re penalised. Based on our experience both as gamers and professionals, we can already get the general vibe of a game after the first play(s), and while we did like it, Diana was not that impressed by it nor did she fall in love immediately. There is so much to do, and everything is intertwined! Maybe we’re getting old or maybe it’s because we don’t have that much time, but lately we’ve been enjoying less heavier games. Another reason may be because a few months ago we reached the full capacity of our collection, so we need to be stricter on what we keep. What do you think? Should we give it another chance?

🇪🇸 ¿No sentís alivio cuando puedes echarle la culpa de una compra a otra persona? Pues el amigo @misterflink es nuestra excusa, y ¡¡¡gracias, amigo!!! Juego que no nos llamó de primeras por parecerse a otros chorrocientos juegos tipo tetris. Vale, las maravillas en madera son... maravillosas, pero encierra mucho más. Tiene un punto de carrera por pillar las maravillas a cambio de cerrar tu turno y eso es arriesgado pero divertido cuando se la quitas a otro jugador/a. Además las diferentes fuentes de puntos sumado a la obligatoriedad de ir poniendo calzadas le dan un toque algo exigente a la colocación inteligente de losetas. Sin las cartas de puntos de objetivo quizás se te quede algo light. Nosotros lo pillamos a buen precio por Wallapop y pensamos traernos las maravillas nuevas del @spiel_messe porque llevamos bastantes partidas.

🇬🇧Don’t you feel somehow relieved when you can blame a shopping spree on someone else? Our friend @misterflink is the one to blame on this one and we can say “thank you, dear friend!”. This one didn’t really catch our attention initially as it seems so similar to other tetris like games, although we must admit the wonders are absolutely fantastic. It does feel a bit like a race when getting the best wonders for your map before others, which is fun. You can score points in different ways, and one restriction you have are the roads, meaning you’ll have to place all tiles smartly around them. If you don’t use the final scoring cards the game may feel a bit too light though. We got it second hand and we look forward to getting the new wonders at the @spiel_messe, as we have played the original games many times by now.

🇪🇸Juego que revivimos en una partida a 4 porque Ana, mujer del amigo @john_mile y hermana secreta de Diana, siente también adoración por las flores y las abejas. En cada partida nos sigue asombrando lo fantástico que es y lo buenísima que es su mecánica de construir tu panal a base de losetas, generándote un motor de acciones y de recursos (miel de diferentes tipos) muy diferente. El cómo montas tu panal te permitirá hacer acciones rápidas o perder algunos turnos si quieres un tipo de miel más concreta y cara. Que tengas que ir añadiendo nuevas abejitas para hacer más acciones lo hace un juego muy progresivo y al final se acelera la generación de recursos y los puntos. Es un juegazo increíblemente bueno y precioso hasta tal punto que Diana ahora solo piensa en las nuevas expansiones. Y vosotros ¿Lo habéis probado? ¿Tenéis algún otro juego de abejas que recomendar?

🇬🇧 HoneyBuzz was a game we got to play after years thanks to our friend Ana, @john_mile ‘s wife and Diana’s secret sister, as they have both huge devotion for flowers and bees. We were surprised (again) by how brilliant it is and how great its mechanics about building a honeycomb work out, all thanks to the tokens that will create actions and resources engines by generating different sorts of honey. Depending on how you plan to develop your honeycomb, it will allow you to create fast actions or rather “lose” some turns in order to build up a more difficult yet rewarding honey grid. You will also have to add more bees in order to progress with the actions so you can generate more resources. It is a fantastic game, and Diana’s already thinking about all the expansions. Have you tried it? Do you recommend any other bees games?

LOS 8 DE CÉSAR · LADYBUG MEEPLE

🇪🇸César, el otro 50% de @ladybugmeeple, es un chico de Barcelona igual de carismático y vivaz que Ottavia. Siempre locuaz y dispuesto a jugar a lo que sea. Es un jugón de pro. Nos dan mucha envidia porque sus stories están repletos de partidas, tanto fillers como sesudos. Además, muchas de las veces juegan en grupos, algunos habituales, y hacen que los envidiemos más aún. Tenemos pendientes alguna escapada a Viena (o ellos una visita a Málaga) para resarcirnos del caos y el poco tiempo de las ferias en las que coincidimos. Con total certeza os decimos que si alguna vez os los encontráis en algún pasillo o mesa, saludarlos porque son tan geniales como parecen, o incluso más. Respecto a sus juegos, podéis ver que coincide con algunos de Ottavia, e incluso alguno en los que hemos trabajado. Os dejamos sus 8 favoritos:

🇬🇧César is the other 50% of @ladybugmeeple, he is originally from Barcelona and is as charismatic and fantastic as Ottavia. He’s very articulate, fun and willing to play whatever game is available, and he’s a pro at almost all of them. We are always jealous of them when seeing their Instagram stories full of games, from fillers to brainkillers. They seem to have a lot of fun, and many times with groups of friends, which is something we’d love to do on a regular basis as well. We’re planning to visit them in Vienna - and they still have to come to Málaga - so we can enjoy more than at conventions, which is where we normally meet. We can assure you they will be the nicest to say hi to when you find them at a convention. On what regards his favourites, he aligns with Ottavia on some, and we are happy to see a game we’ve worked on their list. Here are César’s favourites:
